EMT poem

You see a man collapse ground what do you do?
You call 911 and wait to see the lights flashing red white and blue
You ask the operator what do I do?
Check the pulse and administer 30 to 2
For every compression on the man’s chest you feel the dread
Will he make it or will he die
No one knows until it’s his time
Your heart beats faster and faster as if it’s a race to the finish
A moment of relief and you hear the sirens getting louder and louder
The medics arrive and what do they say?
Please step aside we will take it from here
They load the man into the vehicle with one swift motion
Like a wave in the ocean so gentle but quick
The AED attached and the medic yelling clear as one shock over another ensues
The vitals getting oh so slimmer
Will he make it or will he die
That answer cannot be seen until we arrive
We arrive at the hospital and what do they say?
He did not make it we did the best we could
