Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is about a society bent on only feeling happiness.  A society that wants to destroy anything that makes people sad. In this case that sadness would be books, poetry or anything of literature.  The author of the book creates a world that I would best describe hypocritical. A world that is meant to be perfect. No pain, no suffering when in truth it seems everyone is in comatose state of denial.  The use of drugs just to fall asleep at night, the harsh reality outside there little society that they refuse to accept exists. The main character, Guy Montag, is a fireman whose job is not to put out fires but to start them.  They don’t just start fires on anything but on the one thing that is not allowed in society, books. He eventually comes across an incident that changes his life forever.

To me Fahrenheit 451 ended up to be the most depressing book I have ever read. Throughout the first half of the book I felt the need to just curl up in a corner and cry. That society was meant to be all happy and jolly that turned out to be depressing and eventually suspenseful. In comparison to another book, this would be the overly depressing version of the giver.  I think I’m going to go read the giver now, at least that is a happy dysfunctional utopia.

Multi media

Success and failure are all a parts of life. You are happy when we succeed and sad when you’ve failed. Accidents do happen. Some not as bad as Simba here but that’s not exactly the point.  The point being is you learn the most from failure and know not to try that again. In the end we succeed. You just have to get up and try again. Poor simba….

Nature poem

What is nature?
Is it what you perceive or what you believe?
Perception of nature is a wondrous thing
You see the sun reflect upon the leaves
As if they are shimmering in the day light
The day goes on as you see the rivers, the hills
You feel the warmth of the sun like a surge of joy
Darkness falls and so the cycle returns
What is nature?

EMT poem

You see a man collapse ground what do you do?
You call 911 and wait to see the lights flashing red white and blue
You ask the operator what do I do?
Check the pulse and administer 30 to 2
For every compression on the man’s chest you feel the dread
Will he make it or will he die
No one knows until it’s his time
Your heart beats faster and faster as if it’s a race to the finish
A moment of relief and you hear the sirens getting louder and louder
The medics arrive and what do they say?
Please step aside we will take it from here
They load the man into the vehicle with one swift motion
Like a wave in the ocean so gentle but quick
The AED attached and the medic yelling clear as one shock over another ensues
The vitals getting oh so slimmer
Will he make it or will he die
That answer cannot be seen until we arrive
We arrive at the hospital and what do they say?
He did not make it we did the best we could
